In 1984, I established the first visual arts department at Narraguagus High School in Harrington, Maine and taught there for 24 years. Throughout my tenure, I strove to develop within my students a sense of confidence in their personal artistic abilities and potential. An equally important goal of my program was to instill a deep appreciation for the history of art and its stylistic diversity.
As a teacher, I explored a wide range of 2D and 3D materials and techniques in the classroom, but excluded oil paints for practicality and safety issues.
Happily, in my recent retirement, I am re-connecting with oils, a much loved but long neglected medium.
